Dynasty vs Redraft

Redraft rankings price a player for this season only; dynasty rankings price him for the long term.

Every sport on The Expert Sports carries two rankings, and the difference between them is the difference between the two classic fantasy formats.

Redraft means every manager starts fresh each season: rosters are drafted from scratch, nothing carries over, and a player's value is purely what he will do this season. Redraft rankings therefore follow current form and current role — a 37-year-old star having a great year ranks exactly where his season says he should.

Dynasty means the roster is kept year after year, so a player's value spans the rest of his career, not just this season. Age, trajectory and durability move players dramatically: young cornerstones rise, and veterans in their late 30s fall even while they are still producing. The Expert Sports builds each dynasty list by re-weighting the same verified player pool as the redraft list for long-term value — the pool is identical, the ordering philosophy is not.

Both lists are published side by side on every sport page, refreshed daily, and each carries its own trade values — the same house curve applied to each list's own ranks. Prospect hubs and the draft tools speak the dynasty language (future picks, rookie capital), while the in-season calculators default to whichever list you select.
