🎲 Mock Draft Simulator

This is a simulation. It drafts off this site's real, published big boards for the five prospect-hub sports. The pick order for the NBA, NFL, NHL and WNBA comes from each hub's published mock draft (the outlet's own order, labelled on the hub). MLB has no published mock order — the site says why on the hub — so the MLB simulation drafts in big-board slot order and you claim pick numbers instead of a team.

Dedicated pages: 🏀 NBA Mock Draft Simulator · 🏈 NFL Mock Draft Simulator — the same simulator, preset to one draft and linked from that draft's prospect hub.

How the computer drafts: at each computer slot, the eight highest-ranked players still on the board are the candidates, weighted (8 − position)2 — the best available player is the most likely pick, with real variance. Your slots are always yours to pick. Nothing here is a prediction: it is the published board plus stated randomness.

About the Mock Draft Simulator

The Mock Draft Simulator lets you run a simulated first round for any of the five draft sports on The Expert Sports — NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and WNBA — drafting off the site's real, published big boards. Claim one team's slots (or, for MLB, your pick numbers) and make those picks yourself; the computer drafts everyone else's.

Nothing here is invented. The pick order for the NBA, NFL, NHL and WNBA comes from each prospect hub's published mock draft — the outlet's own order, labelled on the hub with its source. MLB has no published mock order on this site (the hub says why), so the MLB simulation drafts in big-board slot order and you claim pick numbers instead of a team. The computer's drafting model is printed on the page: at each computer slot, the eight highest-ranked players still on the board are the candidates, weighted (8 − position)2 — the best available player is the most likely pick, with real variance around him. Your slots are always yours to pick.

A simulation is not a prediction, and the page says so: it is the published board plus stated randomness, so running it twice gives two different drafts — which is the honest way to explore how a first round might fall. Dedicated one-draft pages exist for the two biggest drafts — the NBA Mock Draft Simulator and the NFL Mock Draft Simulator — preset to a single draft and linked from their prospect hubs.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Mock Draft Simulator a prediction?

No. It is the site's published big board plus a stated randomness model — at each computer pick, the eight highest-ranked players still available are weighted (8 − position)², so the best player is most likely but not certain. Run it twice and you get two different drafts.

Where do the pick order and big board come from?

The big boards and mock orders are the ones published on this site's prospect hubs, with their sources labelled there (for example NBADraftRoom's big board and HoopsWire's mock for the NBA). MLB has no published mock order, so its simulation drafts in big-board slot order and you claim pick numbers instead of a team.

Does the simulator cover the full draft?

It covers the simulated round the published sources support — the first round for the NBA and NFL dedicated simulators (30 and 32 picks). Later rounds are not invented where no published order exists.
