About the Player Comparison Radar
The Player Comparison Radar puts up to four players from a stat-line sport on one five-axis chart, so you can see the shape of a player โ not just his rank โ at a glance. Pick a board, choose your players, choose any five of that board's real stat categories, and the radar draws each player's profile across the five axes, with the full numbers in the table underneath.
Every axis is a percentile within that board's real pool: the share of players carrying a numeric value for that category whom this player stands ahead of. A 100 means ahead of everyone in the pool for that stat; 0 means ahead of no one. For lower-is-better categories โ ERA, WHIP, FIP, turnovers, goals against โ โaheadโ means a smaller number, so 100 is always the good end of the axis. Percentiles are computed from the published stat lines only. A player with no value in a chosen category plots at the centre for that axis and shows a dash in the table; the radar never invents a number to complete a shape.
Because each axis is a within-pool percentile, the radar is the right tool for comparing players inside one sport and one board โ two guards on the NBA board, two starters on the MLB pitching board. It is not a cross-sport tool: a 90th-percentile scorer in one pool and a 90th-percentile scorer in another are each being measured against their own pool, which is exactly what the chart claims and all it claims. For a cross-sport comparison built on a stated definition, see the UPM board.
Frequently asked questions
What does an axis on the Player Comparison Radar mean?
Each axis is the player's percentile within that board's real pool for that stat category: the share of players carrying a numeric value whom he stands ahead of. 100 means ahead of everyone; for lower-is-better stats (ERA, WHIP, turnovers) a smaller number counts as ahead, so 100 is always the good end.
What happens if a player has no value in a category I pick?
He plots at the centre of that axis and shows a dash in the numbers table. The radar computes only from published stat lines and never invents a value to complete a player's shape.
